Every event, before it is fully known to the public, is always the victim of commentators who modify and distort it to their own liking. The appearance of the Fila Brasileiro at our exhibitions was undoubtedly a major event, so it could not escape this rule. It is also a victim of those who resort to passing on rumours instead of admitting that the breed is unknown or first examining and studying its characteristics.<\/p>

The most commonly used theme is the \"strong\" temperament of the fila. It is often said that this is a bad tempered, unrestrained wild dog that is a danger even to its owner. This could not be more wrong. The Fila is just an infinitely tolerant and instinctively obedient dog. He likes children and is happy to join in their play. He is very sociable, always trying to be where the household members are and is happy to lie at their feet. He is thirsty for cuddles, always finding a way to put his head between his owner's hands.

I think it is possible to reassess the misconceptions that assume it is dangerous and untameable. The Fila is in fact an ideal dog for its owner, and ideal for strangers... from the owner's point of view. At the very least, it is a truly useful dog, because its temperament makes it an unsurpassed guard dog, a dog that solves its own problems, not just a barker that wakes the owner to come and confront the intruder.<\/p>

As for the detractors, suffice it to recall the well-known saying: 'Fulano is as loyal as Fila' or 'Beltrano is a Fila dog'.
